A Letter to the Broken
Dear the broken,
Growing up, I used to be a "collector" a.k.a a hoarder. I used to "collect" things; candy wrappers from fun trips, birthday cards, invitations, notebooks filled with random scribbles, (puppy love) letters, paper bags, boarding passes, old tickets, broken watches, hairband, empty old containers, boxes, t-shirts, and many more including broken pieces that I hoped to fix someday.
Then overtime, I changed. Although I still collected memorable items, I stopped collecting broken things. Raising three young children, broken things happened almost daily. It was either fix it right there and then or toss it.
My life has been a series of brokenness since 2011 and most of all, my heart was the most broken. There were times when I believed the broken pieces of my heart were too many and too small to be picked up and placed back together.
As Job said "my spirit is broken, my days used up, my grave dug and waiting" (Job 17:1-2 MSG), so did I. The fact that I was not the only one who had to go through the pain but also my children made it even worse. It was too much to bear. How would I survive? Everything was broken, falling apart, shattered.
I couldn't imagine if God right then decided to toss all the broken pieces away. But instead He picked them up one by one, gently, slowly, and surely made my heart whole again.
God never wastes broken pieces
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 NLT
Friends, some of you are going through brokenness right now: broken dreams, broken marriage, broken expectations, broken relationship, broken family, broken body, broken life, broken hearts. Please know that God never rejects your brokenness, in fact, He really wants to make you whole again. God is actually looking for you, the broken.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed
Luke 4:18
Father God sent Jesus to find you, to heal your brokenness, to love the brokenhearted. He is watching you and ready to mend any brokenness in your life.
Friends, you are seen by God and all your brokenness is not hidden from Him. He is the God who sees, who hears, who understands, who cares, and who is willing to help you, to comfort you, to make you whole again. So, come and hand Him your broken anything. He never wastes even a tiny piece of them. Your broken pieces are important. You are important.
With love,
Felecia
