Unfinished Business

12 December, 2016

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. -Philippians 1:6 NIV

There's an unsightly scene that sits on a pristine beach in Asia flanked by gorgeous beach resorts. Sharing the same white sands of the popular island hub is an unfinished hotel that has gray and brown scaffolding all around. The building's massive skeleton cannot be missed and onlookers are often daunted by the unattractive sight during their vacation. It is pitiful because it has been sitting that way for many years. Traces of tarnishing steel give away how nature has taken a toll on the massive construction as numerous years past. I remember thinking, "What a waste." Rumors circulate about strife amongst investors, missing funds and broken trusts. Only they know the real story and I'm pretty sure, whatever differences they had they all agree on one thing: What a waste.

I wonder how God feels when He sees humanity. He had invested so much for us to 'make it.' In fact He didn't just pay for our debts, He overpaid for us. On Calvary He washed us of our past, present and future sins. Yet some still reject the overpayment Jesus gave on the cross where His blood poured out to cover all humanity's debt. What a waste.

God created us for a purpose. He created us for great things and He doesn't want His most prized-possession to go to waste. He planned humanity to enjoy an abundant life. The Bible talks about His 'building layout': plans to prosper us and not harm us. To give us a hope and a future. (Jer. 29:11)

There might be God-given dreams and desires in your heart that you may have abandoned. Allow our Heavenly Father to help. He is in the restoration business!

He has called us and saved us for a purpose and He is able to complete the good work He has started.

Better than pieces of paradise in sandy blue shores, He has destined us to carry the Darling of Heaven in our hearts. Let Heaven invade Earth as we live out His plans and purposes for our lives.

You are not a waste. Jesus said, "You are worth it all."
